Musical Tempos or Musical Speeds
- Larghissimo - as slow as possible
- Largo - very slow and solemn
- Larghetto - slightly less slow
- Lento - slow
- Adagissimo - very slow
- Adagio - slow
- Adagietto - slightly faster
- Andante - moderately slow
- Moderato - at a brisk walking pace
- Allegreto -
- Allegretto - fairly lively
- Allegramente - lightly
- Allegro - lively, fast (the Italain word for cheerful)
- Vivace - fast
- Vivacissimo - very quickly
- Presto - very fast
- Prestissimo - extremely fast
Musical Terms
- Agitato - agitated or excited
- Brillante - sparkling or brilliant
- Brio - with spirit or vigour
- Coda - the tail end of a piece of music
- Crescendo - graudal increase in volume
- Da Capo - go back to the beginning (Italian for 'from the beginning')
- Dolce - sweet, soft and gentle
- Dolente - sad
- Forte - loud or strong
- Fortissimo - very loud
- Grave - slow and serious
- Legatto - smooth and evenly (Italian for 'joined')
- Libretto - the text of an opera (Italian for'little book')
- Mezzo - Italian for 'half'
- Molto - much or very
- Pianissimo - very soft
- Piano - soft
- Pizzicato - a direction to pluck the strings, rather than using the bow to create sound (Italian: 'plucked')
- Ritenuto - slowing in tempo
- Scherzo - lively
- Sotto voce - Quiet and subdued
- Tutti - all the players
